This banjo clock
was manufactured by the New Haven Clock Company of New Haven Conn. around
1930. The model is a "Willard" after the famous American clockmaker
Simon Willard who patented the banjo clock in 1802.
It is in excellent
running condition and strikes on the hour and half hour with a wonderful
deep rod chime. The case is a dark finished wood probably mahogany.
The eagle finial is solid brass. The convex dial glass is perfect and
mounted in a brass bezel that has darkened with age. The polished and
laquered brass side decorations are in excellent condition with no dents
or bends. The silvered dial is beautiful and the numerials are sharp
and not worn. The original wind key is included. There is some dial
smudging from finger contact from setting. The throat decoration has
some age cracking. Also there is a small crack in the back of the case
behind the pendulum. These slight defects are pictured. Click
here for pictorial detail.
